Dr. Suzanne Paar, DVM
Dr. Paar brings 20 years of surgical experience, professionalism, compassion, and expertise to the care she provides, and we are honored to have her as part of our team! Dr. Paar received her education and training from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. This institution has a long-standing tradition as a global leader in veterinary medicine education, research, and clinical care. Upon graduating in 2001, she first worked at the famous American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) in Manhattan. Her love of animals was sparked by her first pet, Tigger, a gray tiger cat who was a part of the family. Dr. Paar regularly travels to Mexico and the Caribbean islands to help spay and neuter the strays in order to curb the population and decrease their pain and suffering.
Dr. Elizabeth McCalley, DVM
Dr. Liz McCalley was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and grew up near Dallas, Texas. She graduated with honors from Cornell University in 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in animal science. Dr. McCalley went on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2015 from Texas A&M University.
Dr. McCalley began her career as a small animal veterinarian in Austin, Texas, at the Banfield Mueller hospital. She relocated to San Diego in 2017 and, after her tenure with Banfield San Diego, she took over as the medical director of Purple Paws Pet Clinic. Dr. McCalley quickly helped the practice to become AAHA accredited, a standard of veterinary excellence. Her professional interests include internal medicine, dentistry, and preventative medicine. Dr. McCalley loves Coronado because of the people, weather, and the pet-friendly atmosphere it provides. Her personal interests include scuba diving, running, hiking, traveling the world, and playing with her best friend Radar, a rescued Chihuahua Beagle mix.
Dr. William Withers, DVM
Dr. Tim Withers was born in a small town in Kentucky. He eventually obtained his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1990 from Auburn University. He has over 28 years of experience as a small animal Veterinarian. Dr. Withers enjoys helping pets and their owners to get the best veterinary health care possible, combining three decades of experience with modern, science-based evidence, compassion, and common sense medicine & surgery. He lives with his eight-year-old brindle Boxer dog, Stella, and enjoys traveling, cooking, and watching Stella run the great dog beaches of San Diego county.
Dr. Tracy Nicole Frey, DVM
Veterinarian | Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons
Dr. Frey is a 2002 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her surgical training in New York and New Jersey and has been practicing in Southern California since 2009, emphasizing soft tissue/emergency surgery and elective orthopedic surgery. Dr. Frey specializes in soft tissue surgery, particularly gastrointestinal and oncologic procedures. She has a particular interest in pain management and critical care and will work closely with owners and referring veterinarians to provide the utmost compassionate care for her patients. Dr. Frey was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs. Her little princess is a gorgeous Pomeranian named “Pouf!” whose favorite hobbies are spinning in circles, playing fetch, and attacking socks!
