Dr. Suzanne Paar, DVM
Dr. Paar brings 20 years of surgical experience, professionalism, compassion, and expertise to the care she provides, and we are honored to have her as part of our team! Dr. Paar received her education and training from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. This institution has a long-standing tradition as a global leader in veterinary medicine education, research, and clinical care. Upon graduating in 2001, she first worked at the famous American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) in Manhattan. Her love of animals was sparked by her first pet, Tigger, a gray tiger cat who was a part of the family. Dr. Paar regularly travels to Mexico and the Caribbean islands to help spay and neuter the strays in order to curb the population and decrease their pain and suffering.
Dr. Robert Tugend, DVM
Dr. Tugend grew up in Coronado and graduated from Coronado High School. After obtaining his degree in veterinary medicine, Dr. Tugend built a highly successful practice at Main Street Animal Hospital in San Diego, which in recent years became a part of the large VCA system. Dr. Tugend’s practice flourished in that location for many years. He saved countless lives of beloved pets and working dogs (https://latimesblogs.latimes.com/unleashed/2009/03/post.html). His practice included the San Diego Police Department, the Highway Patrol, National City Police Department and many local pet rescues. Dr. Tugend recently chose to become part of a smaller, more personal, friendly and well run clinic, Purple Paws Pet Clinic in the City of Coronado, where he has many family, friends and clients. Dr. Tugend is well versed in internal medicine and is an excellent veterinary surgeon. He is an experienced diagnostician and believes in resolving your pet’s illness or injury as quickly and efficiently as possible, for the sake of both you and your pet. Dr. Tugend also is familiar with local specialists and, if necessary, will not hesitate to refer you to the best practitioner for your pet. Dr. Tugend’s special interests lie in internal medicine, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, and in maintaining your pet’s pretty smile.
